What the Digital Deluxe Edition actually adds
The Deluxe bundle is mostly cosmetic and convenience: a digital artbook, the Petri Alanko soundtrack, the Starter Resource Bundle, a wallet artifact, and the AWE Mission Outfit. The one functional extra is the 48-hour early access window, and it applies only on PlayStation 5. Xbox and PC Deluxe buyers still start on 24 September.
If you are on PS5 and want to play two days early, Deluxe is the only route. If you are on Xbox or PC, you are paying ten dollars for cosmetics.
The Steelbook is for people who want a disc
The physical Steelbook Edition ships with a case featuring artwork you cannot get digitally, three fine art prints, a key art poster and a slipcase. It is listed by major retailers including GameStop and Amazon, and it exists for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Physical copies ship on 15 October rather than 24 September, so you will wait three weeks past the digital launch.
Why the standard edition is 59.99 dollars
Most big-budget action games now launch at 69.99 dollars, so 59.99 stands out. Remedy self-publishes CONTROL Resonant and bought the Control franchise rights back from 505 Games in February 2024, which removes a publisher revenue share from the equation. The original Control also launched at 59.99 dollars. Remedy has not explained the pricing publicly, so treat this as an explanation of the economics rather than a stated reason.
Which edition to buy
- Buy Standard if you want the game on 24 September and care about nothing else.
- Buy Digital Deluxe if you are on PS5 and want two extra days, or you genuinely want the artbook and soundtrack.
- Buy Steelbook if you collect physical media and can wait until 15 October.
- Buy the bundle if you have never played the original Control; it is the cheapest way to get both.
